Where to Read Tian Can Tu Dou's Novels

Tian Can Tu Dou has written seven full-length novels over eighteen years, and they are scattered across three rival platforms that have no interest in promoting each other's catalogs. If you search any single app for "Tian Can Tu Dou," you will find some of his books and no hint of the rest. This guide maps where each book actually lives — and answers the question English readers ask most: what can I read without knowing Chinese?

Qidian 起点 · 2008–2017 · Books 1–4

Qidian (China Literature) is the oldest and largest pay-per-chapter platform, and it hosts his first four novels: the 2008 debut 魔兽剑圣异界纵横, Battle Through the Heavens (2009–2011), Martial Universe (2011–2013), and The Great Ruler (2013–2017). Reading on Qidian costs per chapter after a free opening section; the backlist is complete and stable, and these are the editions most Chinese readers know.

Zongheng 纵横 · 2017–2026 · Books 5–6

In 2017 he moved to Zongheng, a smaller rival platform, where he wrote Dragon Prince Yuan (2017–2021) and Absolute Resonance (2021 — completed November 14, 2025). He has never publicly explained the move, and we won't speculate here; the practical takeaway is simply that the two newest completed books are not on Qidian, so a Qidian-only reader misses them.

Fanqie 番茄 · 2026– · Book 7

Shentongzhe is exclusive to Fanqie Novel — and this move is structurally different. Fanqie is a free, ad-supported platform: no pay-per-chapter, no paywall. It is his first novel on a free platform, which is a large part of why the announcement dominated Chinese book news in July 2026 — a top-tier paid-platform author bringing his new book to the platform with the widest free reach. Reading Shentongzhe legally costs nothing; you just need the Fanqie page or app and the ability to read Chinese.

What about English?

Shentongzhe: honestly, nothing yet. No official English translation has been announced, and Fanqie's free domestic model has no established English channel. This site exists partly to fill that gap — our guide carries a summary of the Chapter 0 author's note and will keep covering the book as it serializes.

The backlist: the picture is better. Battle Through the Heavens has been available in English on Webnovel (Qidian's international arm), and fan translations of several other titles have circulated on English fan sites for years — quality and completeness vary, and the legal status of fan translations is gray at best. If you'd rather watch than read, the animated (donghua) adaptations of Battle Through the Heavens, Martial Universe and The Great Ruler stream internationally with English subtitles and cover the early arcs faithfully enough to learn the world.

A word on machine translation: running Fanqie chapters through a browser translator works in a pinch, but xuanhuan terminology survives MT poorly — expect the Shentong Bone to come out as "supernatural power bone," "divine ability bone," or worse, sometimes within the same chapter.
